According to the US News and World Report, rumors are flying around DC that Cheney will resign and Bush will promote Condolezza Rice to Vice President. All due to the Plame/CIA leak case, which has Cheney’s office at the heart of the scandel.
Unfortunately, it would help set Rice up for a run in 2008. Taking out Cheney would be nice, but giving Rice some experience in the Oval Office might turn out to be a bad thing for Dems in 2008. Hilary vs. Rice, anyone? That would be interesting, at the very least.
