While we are on the topic of music, I was thinking about my eight desert island discs, especially since my wife (as you can tell from her comments) couldn’t understand some of my picks for 2005 (even though I mentioned it was 2005 releases only)… anyway, picking all-time favorites would be pretty difficult. Here we go, in no particular order:
- Fugazi – 13 Songs
The band of the 90′s in my mind and this is the album (along with Repeater) that kicked it all off in 1990.. even though this is a compilation of their two late 80′s releases (Fugazi and Margin Walker.) A must have. - Wilco – Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Wilco’s finest and a great mix of slow and upbeat songs. - Pavement – Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
Classic Pavement and enough quirky, poppy indie rock to make any desert island dance and sing a long! - Lifetime – Hello Bastards
One of the best hardcore/punk albums ever. - The Clash – London Calling
A punk classic from one of the best and most crucial bands in rock history. This never gets old. - Radiohead – OK Computer
Classic Radiohead album. Would need this record to mix it up a little bit. - Quicksand – Slip
Post-hardcore classic and my only ‘heavy’ album. - Weezer – Pinkerton
An underrated Weezer album and a perfect compliment to a lonely island experience.
And the two bonus discs, if I could sneak a couple more in my bag would be: Jawbreaker – Dear You and Jawbox – For Your Own Special Sweetheart
And to finish off the Desert Discs experience…
Book: The Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien — strictly because it would take a long time to read. Not that it isn’t a good book or anything…
Luxury Item: satellite radio? Not sure if that would count (or even work for that matter), but it would sure make the desert less boring!
Feel free to post your own in the comments… I would love to see what other people would bring with them!

If I had a luxury item to bring along I would bring one of Mark’s military brick phones so I could call a damn boat to pick my ass up.
