What are they thinking?

August 28th, 2006

Say for a second you think most politicians are rich, dumb white folks. (I could generalize even more by saying men, but I’ll stop there…) So dumb, that the things they say can sometimes make you wonder why anyone could possibly vote for (and then re-elect MANY times) these people. And it just keeps happening…

Some recent examples:

  • Joseph Biden (D- Delaware), senator and presidential hopeful, says he can hold his own in the south because Delaware was a “slave state.” What!??! Come on! Even if you *really* believed that, why would you say it out loud? Dumb, dumb move Mr. Biden.
  • Katherine Harris (R- Florida), representative and chief election stealer, says church-state separation is a lie, that “God is the one who chooses our rulers,” and that if Christians are not elected, the secular politicians will “legislate sin.” Wow. Harris has done plenty to make herself look crazy, but if you really want some good laughs, just check out the re-election era stories. An amazing lady… but in a bad, creepy way.
  • George Allen (R- Virginia), also a presidential hopeful and certified racist, called his competitor’s staffer (who happens to be Indian) a ‘macaca‘ and said “welcome to America and the real world of Virginia,” despite the staffer being born in the United States AND Virginia. Nice work, Mr. Allen! Even your ever-changing reasoning behind using the term proves you don’t understand the real issue.
  • The final example I’ll give tonight, is one Mr. Ted Stevens (R- Alaska). By now you all know about his famous “tubes” speech (if you can really call non-sensical rambling a speech), where he referred to the Internet as a “series of tubes.” He also referred to email as internets, as in: “I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday.” Anyway, it provided a ton of comic material.

So, I plead with you… PLEASE stop voting for these idiots. They need to be kicked from Congress for good. The coming election is a very important one, not only for the direction of this country, but to send a message to these fools: Incompetence will not be tolerated any longer!
