Palin Part 3
More on the Palin saga, as the vetting process seems to be happening in real time. (Crazy, huh?)
Prior to Saturday, the McCain camp hadn’t gone through the archives of Palin’s hometown newspaper. The archives are offline access only and a democrat charged with researching Palin was told by the staff they were the first to request access. Wow!
Today, Andrea Mitchell reported that McCain lawyers are currently doing a vet of Palin in Alaska. Double wow.
A run down of the current issues with Palin on the HuffPost homepage, right now:
- ‘Fringe’ Alaskan Secessionist Party: Palin Was A Member
- Almost Recalled As Mayor
- Directed Fundraising For Indicted Senator’s 527
- Troopergate Scandal
- Calls Iraq A War For Oil
- Admits She Hasn’t ‘Really Focused On Iraq’
- Alaska National Guard General: Palin Plays No Role In National Defense

Sounds like a lot of baggage for a VP candidate with little national political experience!
Palin pushes that she is against earmarks, but her administration requested 85 earmarks in the two years as governor.
And finally, a few things to ponder:
- 25% of the last 12 VPs have spent time in the #1 spot
- Alaska makes the top 20 list of U.S. cities by population, would you want the mayor of say, Fort Worth, TX, thrust into running the country tomorrow? (nothing against the mayor of that city, just saying…)
