OpenOffice.org Releases 2.0

OpenOffice.org released version 2.0 of their free, open source office suite today. If you are looking for a capable Microsoft Office replacement, this is the place to go. I’ve been using the beta version of 2.0 for basic word processing over the last few months and have found OO to be a suitable replacement for casual home users. Don’t have much experience in a production environment (i.e. – for work), so I can’t comment on that — however most users would probably qualify as a casual home user anyway.

OO includes a Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access counterpart, as well as an Open Standards file format, PDF export and a multitude of other benefits. Give open source, open standards providers a chance and download OO2.0 today.
