As “Jason Fried posted at SvN”:http://www.37signals.com/svn/posts/831-what-are-super-delegates, I was wondering about super delegates myself the other day… seems like a scam to me. Definitely not democratic!

So 40% of the primary is determined by ‘votes’ that are out of the hands of actual voters through an actual voting process? That is insane. Makes the primaries even more of a sham than they already are… it’s a horse race, for one, and then this system, which according to the article is supposed to be a safety valve for ‘radical’/'detrimental’/'not highly regarded’ views winning the populist vote. Crazy.

Shouldn’t the people determine the direction of the leadership? Isn’t that what a democracy is? Voters elect leaders. Not “voters sort of elect leaders, as long as they are satisfactory to the leaders who have already been elected.”

Anyway, it makes me want to vote even more than I already do. Get out and vote tomorrow!
